Checkered Flag!

It was huge night for Skyler and Team Weaver.  After a decent draw for the heat race, Skyler started his heat in the middle of the pack.  Our new engine has lot of torque and horsepower, and seems more responsive than last year's motor.  Skyler used the new power wisely, and quickly moved up several places, eventually to finish fourth in the heat.   This placed him in a good position for the feature:  third row, outside.

At the green flag, Sklyer powered No. 16 hard on the outside, then made some nifty high-low moves to pick up several spots quickly.  By lap ten, he was running third, and the hometown crowd (lots of Skyler's family) was going wild.  Gradually he picked off the third place car, who started to smoke slightly (not a good sign), and soon he was running second.

Lap by lap, Skyler crawled up on the leader.  One of the slowest car loomed ahead.  When leaders have to "lap" a slow car, it really tests their racing skills.  How will they pass the slow car and still maintain speed, control--and the lead?  The slow car allowed Skyler to close tighter on the lead car--which began to get loose and squirrelly from a tire issue.  On the third to the last lap, Sklyer passed him fast down low, and pressed hard through white flag to the checkered.

First, of course, he had to cross the scales and be weighed--but then it was on to victory circle.  The photos show it all--a great night at the speedway.  A great night for Team Weaver and sponsor FSG Publishers in New York.   Tonight's resulsts showed what can be achieved when people have a dream and work together to make come true.
